Friends of Godstowe
Friends of Godstowe, or FoG, is a group of volunteers who organise social activities and events for the school. Through these events, we aim to ensure that all Godstowe children, parents and guardians feel, and enjoy, being part of our school community.
FoG and the Class Reps organise many different events throughout the year, including Cake Sales, Race Nights, Quiz Evenings, as well as a fantastic Christmas Fair and either a Summer Fete or Ball.
Who are we?
We are parents who volunteer to help the School provide exciting opportunities for our children. We come from a variety of backgrounds and use our skills to host events that are both entertaining and rewarding.
Along with the main FoG committee, there are individual representatives, knows as Class Reps, for each form within the school. These parents assist FoG with the events and are often found manning stalls at Christmas or helping raise money for charity.
What have we contributed to?
The money raised is spent on items that are either not covered by fees or things that we can make happen sooner than would otherwise be possible. FoG regularly works with the Headmistress and staff to update the school Wishlist. Parents and children are also encouraged to make suggestions!
FoG aims to ensure that there is:
- A fair spread of funds across the school, by year group and department
- The best possible return on spending
- Benefit to as many pupils as possible
- Spending on items of both high and low value
We have helped the school achieve incredible new heights.
- Donation to the refurbishment of the Swimming Pool
- New sandpits and play equipment for Lodge
- A new school mini bus
- Chrome Tablet computers
- Sound equipment for the JK Theatre
- Games for the Boarding Houses
The list is never ending and we can’t wait to see what else we can achieve!
