U12s finish fourth in IAPS Netball National Finals
Godstowe’s U12 netball team finished fourth in the country in this year’s IAPS National Finals. Having won the IAPS Regional tournament, the team then travelled to Brighton to play in the National Finals on Saturday 12th March.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the girls were fired up and ready to do their best. They won the first match against Dean Close 9-5. They then won the second match against Dumpton 4-2, lost the third to Windlesham by four goals and won the next two matches against Chigwell (5-3) and King’s Ely (8-2).
This meant the team advanced to the semi finals - a landmark achievement for a Godstowe team. Brambletye were Godstowe’s next competitors. It was a very tough match and, despite Godstowe’s best efforts the team lost by three goals.
For 3rd/4th place play-off the team faced Windlesham again, who immediately scored three goals. Despite Godstowe catching up with their competitors, unfortunately the team narrowly lost by two goals.
Therefore, Godstowe finished 4th out of all the prep schools in the country, which was a huge achievement.
Well done to: Josie Jackson (Captain), Flossie Rowley, Natasha Turner, Maria Cremades, Ottilie Perkins, Phoebe Fox, Talia Dicks, Rolake Babalola, Paris O’Broughton and Megan Li.
