Last Friday, over 400 Godstowe children gathered to watch Gabby Logan, the television presenter and former international gymnast, cutting the ribbon to mark the official opening of the new sports hall at Godstowe, named in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. VIPs, together with the Mayor of High Wycombe, watched a group of Year 4 girls including Gabby Logan’s daughter, perform a spectacular gymnastics display using the brand new equipment in the sports hall.

This is an incredible facility,” said Gabby Logan. “As someone who has grown up doing a lot of sport, I can appreciate that having this sports hall is going to make a big difference to sport at Godstowe, which can now go on whatever the weather. It’s going to give lots of joy to lots of girls over the years and the skills they learn in here they will have for the rest of their lives.

Imagine how excited everyone at Godstowe feels. A school with wonderful facilities, now with the addition of an outstanding sports centre,” said Headmaster David Gainer. “We were very pleased when Gaby Logan, an outstanding sports woman and role model herself, agreed to perform the opening ceremony for us, having just become a Godstowe parent. With any luck her involvement with Godstowe will inspire many champions of the future. As I look around me today it makes me wish I had been as lucky when I was at school. This has been made possible only because of the astonishing support from our Governors, Parents, Friends and, not least, the children of Godstowe. Onwards and upwards!
