U13 swimmers finish second at Nationals

Sport

On Saturday 9th June, four Godstowe girls attended the IAPS National Swimming Finals at the Olympic Pool in London.

The team of Ellie Martin, Jasmine van Rest, Alice Crowston and Alice Butler qualified for the finals earlier this year – the same combination that has made it to the finals for the last three years on the trot.

Over the course of the day the London Aquatics Centre hosted 1500 swimmers, 4000 spectators and 120 races. Children from various schools travelled from far and wide and the competition was very strong. Our U13 girls qualified for all four individual finals, as well as both relay finals.

After some very competitive swimming, the team finished second in the medley relay and third in the freestyle relay. The relays were followed by the individual events in which Ellie Martin finished second, Jasmine van Rest finished second, Alice Crowston finished third and Alice Butler finished 10th.

These fantastic results placed the Godstowe U13 team in second place overall in the U13 competition. Our U13 swimmers did so well that Godstowe finished as third best school in the country.
