GeneralWhich playing field is which? The tennis courts at Lodge are called Bennet. Those next to Highlands House are KG (as this was the originally location of Godstowe’s Kindergarten). The courts in the centre of the grounds by the Bursar’s office are called Perkin.
The pitch next to Perkin is known as Mitchell and the Astroturf outside the link is called Owen. The final pitch at the back of Turner House is Luard. It is named after Colonel Luard, a parent who first proposed the levelling of the playing fields, but sadly did not survive the First World War. We are told that Mitchell, Owen and Perkin were named to continue alphabetically from Luard (L, M, O and P); we wonder what happened to N?
