AcademicHow much prep (homework) should my child expect to be given?
Nursery - All girls and boys take home a book from the Lodge library either to read by themselves, or to look at with their parents.
Beginners - Pupils take home a reading book daily.
Kindergarten - Pupils have a daily reading book, plus weekly spellings and the occasional short piece of research.
Transition - Pupils have a daily reading book, plus weekly spellings and one piece of written work to be completed with parents. Times tables are learnt throughout the year.
Form I - Girls are expected to spend 10 minutes every day reading or learning tables. In addition, they spend approximately 20 minutes on each of the following during the week: English, mathematics (two sessions) and history or geography or science.
Form II - Girls are expected to spend 10 minutes every day reading or learning tables. In addition, they spend approximately 20 minutes on each of the following during the week: English (two sessions), maths (two sessions) and French. Science, history and geography is given once every three weeks on rotation.
From Lower Thirds upward, girls are expected to spend 30 minutes on the following during the week:
Lower Thirds - English (two sessions), maths, French and science. History and Georgraphy are given every other week on rotation.
Middle Thirds - English (two sessions), maths , French (two sessions), Latin/Spainish/SE, science, history, geography and art.
Upper Thirds - English (two sessions), maths (45 minutes), French (two sessions), Latin/Spanish/SE (two sessions), Science, RE, history and geography.
IV Form - English (two sessions), maths (two sessions), French (two sessions), Latin/Spanish/SE (two sessions), science (two sessions), RE, history and geography.
How often do I receive a school report?End of term reports are sent home at the end of the autumn and summer terms for all pupils from Nursery to IV Form, and in academic subjects only for the IV Form at the end of the spring term.
Every half term, parents of girls in LIII upwards are given a Grade Card which gives detailed information about their daughter's progress across a range of subjects. The entries on the grade cards are the 'Attainment Level in Teaching Group' and 'Effort Grade'. The IV Form receive all grade cards except for the final one at the end of the summer term. My daughter is in Main School. How can I find details of her timetable and the curriculum?Timetables and curriculum information can be found by clicking here. Then chose the relevant year group from the list. Curriculum information is updated each term while timetables remain the same for the whole school year. What are the dots and stars my daughter sometimes receives?Rewards are given for both work and behaviour. In Junior forms (Forms I to MIII), stars are placed on girls' work. Coloured Stars are for good work and for trying hard. Silver Stars are for a very good piece of work, work that shows progress or consistently good work. Gold Sars are for excellent work or excellent work that has been sustained over a period of time. A Green Dot is for displaying good manners or conduct.
In Senior forms (UIII and IV Form), Commendations, Merits, Distinctions and Citizenship awards are given. They are written in exercise books and planners. Commendations are given for good work or progress made. Merits are given for a very good piece of work or for sustained good work. Distinctions are given for exceptional sustained work. Citizenship is for helping other members of the school community.
The awards are totalled weekly, and the colour team with the highest number of points has the team shield displayed in Reception. Each term, the winning colour team is awarded a day's Mufti.
In Junior forms a Yellow Dot may be given to encourage an improvement in behaviour. A Red Dot, although rarely given, is an indication that a certain behaviour must stop. In Senior forms, girls are warned of Unnaceptable Behaviour followed by a Written Warning in rare cases.
