Getting Involved

This year, I joined as a Godstowe Class Rep, primarily as I was a new parent and wanted to feel more involved in my daughter’s school life and to meet other like-minded parents. I was initially worried about the responsibility, but it has been so much fun and everyone has been so friendly. I have loved it!

Within the FOG Operational team there are a number of roles: Chairman, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Class Rep Co-ordinator, Second Hand Uniform Shop Central Co-ordinator and Cake Sale Co-ordinator, as well as those who oversee catering, venue management, decorations, entertainment, literature, and fund raising (raffles/auctions).

Class Representatives

The Class Representatives are a purely volunteer group that tends to change every year depending on the Year Group.

The Class Representatives volunteer for their roles prior to the end of each Academic Year and it is down to the existing class reps to encourage these volunteers to represent their daughter’s year group.

Their purpose is to filter relevant Friends Of Godstowe information down to the other parents in their year groups and to attend regular FOG Operational Committee meetings. All information is sent out in email format to make it easier and more streamlined to manage.

Helping Hands

If you are a parent who has a very limited amount of time to share then you can get involved by volunteering to be part of Godstowe’s Helping Hands team. Involvement can be as much or as little as the time you can spare and all are welcome.

Every parent in the school is automatically a member of FOG, and we positively encourage involvement and use of specialist skills that we can utilise from our diverse and talented parents.

How you can help

If you would like to get involved either as a Class Representative or as a Helping Hand then please email FOG directly on friends@godstowe.org.
